Good news! The site construction of the Lakefront Porch is beginning this month. We have received all of the city approvals and permits for the construction authorizing Findorff and Operation Fresh Start to begin working on the site. Beginning the week of April 8th, it will take approximately 3 to 4 weeks to build out the deck, the ramp to the upper level, and to install the planters, allowing the gardeners to plant by the end of April.
We are in the process of purchasing the furniture and shade structures, which will then be installed later this summer. We look forward to hosting a “grand opening” and will send an invite once we obtain the delivery date for these remaining products.
Some adaptations of the park design have been made to satisfy city code requirements. See our Gallery page for the updated renderings by Saiki Design. As you can see, the design maintains our desire to create a fresh, inviting space in our neighborhood.
Without the generosity and support of this community, this new city park would not have been possible. The on-site donor recognition signage is now finalized. Therefore, future donations will be acknowledged only on the website.
